Immigration

Visa requirements required by all nationals. Details can be checked at our nearest Kenya/Tanzanian High Commission / Embassy or Kenyan Tourist Office, and at airline offices.

Customs

Personal effects like cameras and accessories (excluding slide and cine projectors) may be temporarily imported duty free.

Health

Visitors are sometimes advised although it is not mandatory, except in some instances

(i.e. Far East, Central America, South, Central and West Africa), to have valid Yellow Fever and Cholera certificates. It is advisable to check current health requirements with airlines, and recommended that you take anti-malaria tablets two weeks before arrival in Kenya, during your stay, and for a minimum of three weeks after returning home.

Kenya has excellent hospitals and doctors, in addition to Flying Doctor Service who will fly you promptly to the nearest hospital should you fall ill on safari. There are pharmacists in all major towns, but as drugs are expensive it is advisable to bring ample supplies of prescription or any other medicine needed to cover the duration of your safari.

Currency

The basic unit of currency is the Kenya Shilling, used on the decimal system, and divided into 100 cents. Currency exchange rates can be checked at banks and foreign exchange bureaus FOREX. Visitors to Tanzania can bring any amount of foreign currency and no currency declaration is required. Banks give slightly better rates of exchange than hotels. We strongly advise you to avoid street dealers.

Time Difference

In Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda: GMT + 3 hours.

Banks

A number of major international banks have offices in Nairobi and branches throughout Kenya. Hours of business are between 9 am and 3 pm weekdays, and 9 am to 11 am Saturdays. A 24 hour banking service at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport includes Sundays and Public holidays, and (FOREX) are open Mondays through Saturdays.

Climate

In general, the climate varies with altitude, but seldom fall below 24oC in the daytime and 10oC at night. There are two rainy seasons, between October and December and March to early June.

Language

English is spoken and understood nearly everywhere. The national language is Kiswahili. Most hotels and lodges print their literature in French and Germany, and have multi-lingual staff.

Clothes

Cotton and linen dresses, light slacks and short sleeved shirts are essential, with pullovers for chilly night at high altitudes. Some hotels require gentlemen to wear jackets and ties in the evenings. Flat comfortable walking shoes or sandals are an asset, and sun-hats and sunglasses give protection against the sun.

Communication

Most parts of Kenya, including game lodges, can be reached quickly by using light charter aircraft from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport. Some 30 international airlines serve Nairobi and Kenya airways flies to Mombasa Malindi, Kisumu, and Eldoret. Kenya has a comprehensive network of roads.

Entertainment

Nairobi and Mombasa have wealth of different ethnic restaurants. There are good cinemas and theatres in the main cities, and international class casinos, nightclubs and discotheques.

Shopping

Nairobi and Mombasa have excellent shopping facilities for almost everything you need, particularly souvenirs, and there are plenty of good shops in other major towns. Souvenirs and various basic necessities can be obtained from lodge and hotel shops.

Security

As in all countries, security is basically a matter of common sense. Travellers’ cheque and valuables should be deposited in your hotel safe, not left unattended in a hotel room or tour bus, whilst you should avoid carrying large sums of money around with you. Do not let handbags swing freely, and avoid walking alone at night

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

ACCOMMODATION

Based on two person sharing a twin room with private bath. Single rooms are available at a supplementary cost but cannot be guaranteed. Hotels and Lodges are named as an indication of category and rooms may be reserved at similar hotels and lodges.

TRANSPORT

Safari mini-buses, 4-wheel drive vehicles, cars or coaches will be provided according to the route and number of participants. The right is reserved to apply the services of sub-contractors for all or part of the services offered. English speaking driver / guides are provided.

TOUR ALTERATIONS

The right is reserved to change any route or arrangement should it be necessary, and to offer alternatives of equal value – or to cancel any scheduled tour. The right is also reserved to decline any person as a member of any tour at any time, should the person be the cause of any inconvenience or hazard or herself or other passengers.

CANCELLATIONS

30 percent of the total costs is cancelled 35-25 days prior to arrival; 50 percent of total costs if cancelled 24-05 days prior to arrival; 100 percent of total costs if cancelled 04 days prior to arrival.

LIABILITY

The Company and their Agents act only as the agents of the passengers and shall not be liable for injury, delays, loss or damage in any manner, in matter pertaining to tours, transport, hotel and lodges accommodation. All claims are subject to jurisdiction under the laws of the Republic of Kenya.

2ND 3RD PARTY SUPPLIERS

Nature Exploration Safaris acts as a booking agent for hotels, airlines, ground transporters, boat operators, hot air balloon companies and other independent contractors providing accommodations, transportation, and other services that Nature Exploration Safaris

subcontracts on behalf of its clients. Each of these companies is an independent company and is not subject to the control of Nature Exploration Safaris.

Nature Exploration Safaris therefore will not be liable for any personal injury, property damage or loss which may occur as a result of using such subcontracted services however, Nature Exploration Safaris will always endeavour to contract services of companies which in Nature Exploration Safaris discretion, deliver the contracted services in the appropriate quality while adhering to the laws of the land.

In the event that any supplier is unable to provide contracted services for whatever reason, Nature Exploration Safaris  will endeavor to offer you alternative arrangements of similar classification whenever possible. Should you not be willing to take the alternative arrangements offered by Nature Exploration Safaris, any refunds to which you may be entitled will be subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant supplier.

You may not delegate convey or assign your rights duties and obligations entered with Nature Exploration Safaris

PRICES

Prices are based on fares and other costs prevailing at the time price lists are issued, and are subject to change without notice.

FORCE MAJEURE

"Force Majeure" means any circumstances where the execution of contractual services is prevented or affected by factors beyond the reasonable control of Nature Exploration Safaris including, but not limited to acts of God, war and threat of war, civil strife, industrial dispute, terrorist activity, natural disasters such as weather conditions, earthquakes, volcano eruptions, fire, governmental actions and other unexpected occurrences.

In these circumstances, we shall not be liable to pay any compensation or otherwise be responsible for any expenses or losses the client may incur where we are forced as a result to cancel, delay, curtail or change the clients’ arrangements in any way or where the performance or prompt performance of our contractual obligations is prevented or affected.

Nature Exploration Safaris also reserves the right to accept or decline any traveler on any trip, before or during the trip should such person's mental or physical condition impede the operation of the service or the rights, welfare or enjoyment of other travelers. In this case a refund of the unused land services is the limit of Nature Exploration Safaris liability to the traveler removed.

We also reserve the right to alter or modify the itinerary of any tour or relocate accommodation if schedules, security matters and/or events beyond our control make such explained above.

RATES

Rates include hotel accommodation with full board table d’hote meals whilst on safari, and meals in Nairobi and Mombasa as indicated on the itineraries; all expenses in connection with the vehicle and driver for the itineraries as set out; government hotel taxes and service charge ; all entry to parks, etc.

Not included are any airport taxes, visas, gratuities other than service charge, beverages. Laundry or any other personal expenses

RESERVATION

A deposit of 35 percent of the tour cost is required on booking and the balance not later than 30 days prior to commencement of the tour. Payment in full is required where bookings are made less than 30 days before the tour begins.

We will endevour to resolve any complaints to your satisfaction and within reasonable time. In the unlikely event of you remaining dissatisfied please write to us setting out your complaint in detail within seven days of the end of the travel arrangements. Any complain arising after the stipulated period will have been overtaken by events.

A binding contract between you and Nature Exploration Safaris only comes into being after you have fulfilled any terms applicable for the confirmation of a booking and your reservation has been accepted and a confirmation advise issued to you through e-mail. The date of the contract is the date that appears on the confirmation advise.

Where you have a contract, this contract will be governed by the laws of the country in which the services you require will be rendered and will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that country.

Nature Exploration Safaris reserves the right to increase or decrease prices quoted at the site at any time before your booking is made and confirmed.

While all precautions are taken to ensure your safety and enjoyment such services as you may purchase, Nature Exploration Safaris and/or its agents and suppliers shall not be liable for: death, injury, delay, loss or damage arising from any cause and in any manner whatsoever; change of itinerary; acts of terrorism, acts of God or government; neglect, accident, error or omission caused by any of these suppliers or independent contractors, their employees, representatives; or, any event beyond the control of Nature Exploration Safaris.

All baggage is carried at the traveler’s own risk and where applicable Nature Exploration Safaris reserves the right to exclude certain baggage at its discretion.

Nature Exploration Safaris may at any time modify these terms and your use of the services at the website is conditional upon the terms in force at the time of your use.

Notwithstanding any prior confirmation of arrangements, the right is reserved not to execute tours if payment has been received in accordance with the foregoing.
